Shelly graduated from Wheaton College with degrees in elementary education, Spanish and Third World studies, and gained a passion for serving children and families and exploring the world. Before joining Hope House, Shelly spent several years living in Mexico, where she worked with children and families. Her professional experience also includes teaching fourth grade at a Spanish immersion school, being a running coach and working in the public Montessori charter school sector. Along the way, she and her husband Dave have raised three children who are now in high school and college. Raised in Southern California, Shelly will always consider the Pacific Ocean her first love, but she is happiest when she is moving in the outdoors. She enjoys skiing, hiking, swimming, running and spending time with family and friends. She is also a devoted sports mom who can often be found cheering from the sidelines at soccer, tennis and lacrosse matches. If your child is in a sport, she will happily come just to cheer for them. Shelly is grateful for the winding journey God has led her on and thankful for the opportunity to be part of Hope House, where she looks forward to sharing His love with children and families.
