Being a new mom is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded – thrilling, terrifying and full of unexpected twists. One minute you’re enjoying the love of your sweet little one and the next you’re questioning your sanity, struggling with sleep, lack of sleep and spit-up has become a part of your daily attire. But fear not, mama; you’ve got this! Here’s a dose of encouragement to fuel your journey:
1. You Are Enough: Forget the airbrushed images and filtered feeds. Embrace your messy bun, milk-stained shirt and superhero strength. You are fiercely loving and caring for your little one, and that’s the most beautiful image there is. You are who your little one needs!
2. It’s Okay Not to Have It All Together: No one does! Embrace the chaos, the meltdowns (yours and babies!) and the unexpected turns. Real life is not perfect and there is often beauty in the mess.
3. Listen to Your Instincts: You are mama bear; you know your child best and know when something is not right. It’s great to learn from others but if it doesn’t feel right, trust your gut.
4. Self-Care Isn’t Selfish: It’s necessary! Take the shower, steal a quiet reading moment or put on your favorite music; ask for help when you are overwhelmed. A recharged mama is a better mama, and your little one will thrive on your well-being.
5. Celebrate the Small Victories: Survived a diaper blowout without losing your cool? That’s a big deal! Every little win counts, mama. Celebrate them; they add to your strength and resilience.
6. You’re Not Alone: Find your village of trusted people and lean on them, be it family, friends or support groups. Be vulnerable! Share your struggles, joys and vulnerabilities. We need each other!
7. You Are More Than Just a Mom: Motherhood can be consuming; it is so important to not lose sight of the things that make you, you! Remember your passions, hobbies and dreams. Finding time to do the things that are important to you does not take away from how awesome of a mom you are.
9. Forgive Yourself: Mistakes happen almost daily. We all make them. Forgive yourself, learn from it and move on. You’re doing your best, and that is what matters.
10. You are loved: Your little one loves you and needs you. Your village is cheering you on and adores you. Keep going, you are worth it!
So, mama, put on your favorite comfy clothes, grab your favorite snack, take a deep breath and know that you’re amazing. You are loved, you are strong and you are exactly the mama your little one needs. Now go out there and conquer the world, one messy cuddle at a time!
