Claudia joined the Hope House staff in May 2026. She grew up in Colombia and graduated from college with a degree in early childhood education. She moved from Colombia to Chicago 25 years ago. She opened her own day care and operated it for eight years, then worked in schools and social services as a parent educator for many years. She also worked in the foster care system serving unaccompanied minors from other countries. In 2022, she founded her own nonprofit, Healing Pups, which offered animal-assisted therapy services at no cost to families and individuals in settings such as schools, libraries, special education groups and community events. She moved to Colorado in 2024 and worked at Aurora Mental Health and Recovery. Claudia is a mother first of all, loves to take care of others and enjoys both human and animal interactions.
